Nothing forces you to install anything: the site works exactly the same in a regular browser tab. But for regular players, the installed app brings a few concrete perks:

• An icon on your home screen or desktop, just like any other app.
• A direct launch, without having to find the tab again or type the address.
• A dedicated window, without the browser's address bar or tabs around the grid.
• Partial offline play — see below — to keep going with a game without a connection.
• Automatic updates in the background: never a need to reinstall anything.

And like the rest of the site, it's entirely free and needs no account.

On Chrome for Android, the simplest way is to wait for the install banner: it appears automatically at the bottom of the screen on the game pages, starting from your 2nd visit. One tap on "Install" does it.

If you'd rather not wait, or if the banner doesn't show up (it depends on Chrome's own engagement criteria), use the browser's ⋮ menu in the top right, then "Install app" or "Add to Home screen".

Apple doesn't offer an automatic install banner in Safari — so the banner described above will never appear on iPhone or iPad, no matter how many visits. Installing is a manual, few-tap process instead:

1. Open sudoku-land.com in Safari (not another browser — the option only exists in Safari on iOS).
2. Tap the Share icon (the square with an arrow pointing up), in the bottom bar.
3. Scroll down the list and tap "Add to Home Screen".
4. Confirm with "Add" in the top right.

The icon then appears on your home screen, and launches full-screen, without Safari's interface around it.

On Chrome or Edge (Windows, Mac, Linux), a small install icon sometimes appears directly in the address bar, on the right. Otherwise, open the ⋮ menu in the top right, then "Cast, save, and share", then "Install Sudoku-Land…". Either way, a confirmation window appears: click "Install" to confirm — that's the step where the install actually starts.

The game then opens in its own window, which you can pin to your taskbar or dock — handy for getting back to it in one click, without hunting through your other tabs.

Once a level has been loaded while you were online, it stays playable offline — in airplane mode, in a tunnel, or during a plain connection drop. That's true for the daily puzzle too.

On the other hand, the site doesn't preload anything in advance: a level you've never opened online won't be available offline. If you know you're about to lose signal, the simplest thing is to open whichever levels you're interested in once, while you're still connected.

The pages themselves (menus, articles) always try to fetch the freshest version first when you're online, and only fall back to the offline copy when there's no connection — so you always see up-to-date content as soon as your signal is back.

Just like any other app: a long press on the icon (Android, iPhone) offers "Uninstall" or "Remove App". On a computer, open the app, then its ⋮ menu → "Uninstall Sudoku-Land".

Your saves and stats are stored in your browser, not in the app itself — uninstalling it doesn't erase them, as long as you don't clear that device's browsing data.
