Classic 9×9 sudoku, free and no sign-up required

The 9×9 sudoku grid is the best-known version of the game: 81 cells arranged in nine 3×3 boxes. The idea is simple to state, trickier to master: fill every row, every column, and every box with the numbers 1 to 9, without ever repeating a number in the same row, column, or box.

Sudoku-Land offers 5 difficulty levels (easy, medium, hard, expert, evil), notes mode for tracking candidates, a hint system, automatic autosave, and a dark theme. Everything runs straight in your browser: nothing to install, no account to create, on desktop and mobile alike. Every game here uses a different random grid.

How to get started with 9×9 sudoku

Frequently asked questions

How long does it take to solve a 9×9 sudoku grid?

A few minutes on easy, often 15 to 30 minutes or more on expert, depending on your experience and the techniques you know.

Is 9×9 sudoku too hard for beginners?

Not on easy mode. But if you're new to sudoku, Sudoku-Land's 4×4, 6×6, or 8×8 grids let you build up gradually before tackling the 9×9.

Do I need an account or an app to play?

No. Sudoku-Land runs straight in your browser, free and with no sign-up, on desktop, tablet, or mobile. Your game in progress and your statistics are saved in your browser: you can close the tab and pick up later on the same device.

How can I get better at sudoku faster?

By learning solving techniques (see How to play) and practicing regularly. If a difficulty level is blocking you, dropping down temporarily, even to an 8×8 grid, helps build solid fundamentals.
